I haven’t used SQL reporting services much in the last year and had a need for it today. I searched for SQL Business Intelligence Data Services (BIDS) to work with Visual Studio 2013 and found it has a new name, SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT), and it only works only with SQL 2014. I figured, “No big deal! I am working with SQL 2014.” So, I downloaded the tools from and began installation. I chose to add features to an existing instance of SQL Server 2014.
It failed on the step, “Same architecture installation.”
I did some searching and found reference to someone successfully installing when installing to a separate instance. Elizabeth Stitt said she had the same error, and worked around it by installing in a separate instance. I followed her advice, ran the installation tool again and this time chose to “Perform a new installation of SQL Server 2014. This time it worked fine.
Hi,
I just installed MSSQL server 2014 and SSDT-BI 2013.
The installation could not be complete successful due error. The error is not same as yours. Although, I install as new instance.
Were you successful in getting this installed? What was the error you recieved?
